The Bernalillo County Open Space’s Summer Family Fun Days at Bachechi Open Space, 9521 Rio Grande Blvd. NW, in the North Valley have begun.
Every Saturday in June, July and August from 5-8 p.m., the Summer Family Fun Series will offer a relaxing program at Bachechi Open Space for families to experience the outdoors, have a picnic, and enjoy hands-on activities. Participants can create and take home their own nature journal, put together from experiences and observations made during the program. Other activities include Bosque Bingo, and a puppet show the second Saturday of each month, starring animals from around the Rio Grande and Bachechi Open Space.
Interested participants should mark their calendars each month to attend all three programs during the summer schedule:
- June: “Animals of the Area.” Explore evidence of animals in the grasslands, marsh, and along the Bosque.
- July: “Arid Adaptation.” Stop by and adopt a plant, while learning survival strategies for life in the desert.
- August: “Why is(n’t) it raining?” Explore Bachechi before and after monsoons, and help predict the weather.
No registration is required for the Summer Family Fun Days, and there is no cost to attend any program in the series. For more information, please visit www.bernco.gov or call Open Space at (505) 314-0398.
